The Dutch government’s objective is to achieve higher quality, increased freedom of choice, and improved cost controllability. Market reforms in several segments of the Dutch health care industry have resulted in more and more segments opening up to (regulated) competition.
The NMa has published a special brochure, the Guidelines for the Health Care Industry, explaining as much as possible about what is and what is not allowed under the Dutch Competition Act in those regulated segments.
We have taken into account issues concerning competition and quality, accessibility and affordability of health care, while stressing the importance of cooperation.
The NMa sees to it that consumers’ options for more quality are not threatened by competition restrictions.
