NMa Taskforce

In January 2002, the NMa established a special Taskforce Construction Industry to investigate the 'Construction Case' as this important and complex case imposed a heavy workload.

The Authority faced the task of investigating the allegations and imposing fines. Increasingly, the Dutch Government was resolved on introducing structural changes to end the 'pro-cartel' climate.

Measures were to affect the way in which public tenders were put out, but also aimed at strengthening the position of the Competition Authority.

In short, significant public pressure was exerted to effect a thorough cleanup of the Construction Industry and restore sound business relations, challenging the NMa to achieve optimal enforcement results.
