The NMa enforces oversight on agricultural, industrial and construction companies. Agriculture also includes horticulture, cattle breeding, and fishing. Industry covers all industrial companies, ranging from, for example, glass manufacturing to food processing companies.
The NMa enforces general competition oversight on all forms of transport, be it road, rail, water or air. All business activities associated therewith fall under the NMa’s oversight.
The NMa also deals with the banking, insurances, and business services industries. Of all the submarkets within business services, real estate has been declared one of the NMa’s top priorities.
The NMa’s Competition Department has a unit that enforces oversight on competition in the health care industry. The degree of competition varies per submarket. Read more about what the NMa focuses on in its oversight duties.
The NMa is charged with enforcement of the Dutch Competition Act in the energy, telecommunications, and media industries. This also includes the postal, IT, water, cultural, education, and sports industries.
